Enter the chief sustainability officer, whose C-suite role designs, implements, manages, and reports on ESG objectives. CSOs communicate risks and opportunities to the board. The position must also report the impact on the bottom line of all projects. Among the key areas of responsibility are regulatory compliance; establishing internal processes and controls for ESG reporting; supporting a circular economy; and improving waste management, supply chain resilience, and recycling efforts.
