Unified Communications is an enabling technology that integrates communication and collaboration applications and simplifies user access from an integrated desktop or mobile device. UC is central to building an effective communication infrastructure and links disparate and disconnected applications with common reporting and administration across the platform. However, the challenge of gaining approvals for technology investments with declining budgets requires organizations to focus on a sound strategy that clearly demonstrates improvements in business processes and worker productivity. To launch your UC strategy, create an interdepartmental task force to review existing applications and evaluate UC requirements. Additionally, work as a combined team to conduct a network readiness assessment and build a realistic roadmap for implementation. Initial effort spent in developing a solid strategy for moving forward with UC sets the stage for a successful rollout and implementation.
