As a key member of the CommonSpirit Health IT and Digital team, Neil leads strategy, delivery, and operations of all digital products and capabilities for CommonSpirit as we lead digital transformation for our communities and drive real change for our nation. Neil’s areas of responsibility at CommonSpirit Health include: integrated Digital Front Doors, marketing tech/advertising tech, CRM, Search & Schedule, Be-found: patient–provider matching, digital content, the Care Anywhere virtual care continuum (ambulatory, virtual acute care, post-acute, community-centric care), full stack remote care, omni-channel engagements, digital therapeutics/guided care, personalized medicine, digital operations to address productivity in clinical and administrative operations, digital business models/digital partnerships, digital health platforms, human- centered design, digital innovation and future-tech platforms. Since Digital focuses on the whole ministry, Neil partners closely with our clinicians, operators, strategy teams, marketeers, finance and human resources, systemwide.

Most recently, Neil Gomes served as Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) and Jefferson Health System’s Enterprise Chief Digital Officer, Executive Vice President for Digital Innovation and Consumer Experience, and founder of The Digital Innovation and Consumer Experience (DICE) Group. As a proven leader in healthcare and education technology, Neil and his team helped define Jefferson’s innovation strategy and served as a catalyst for digital transformation and consumer experience at Jefferson and partner organizations.

At Jefferson, Neil helped secure grants, generated new revenue via innovative digital solutions, developed new and future-ready business models for growth based on patient-centricity, and architected synergistic partnerships and ventures with startups and large organizations, such as Google, Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, ServiceNow and SAP. Neil also developed and deployed digital front door solutions, retail health eCommerce platforms, tele-health, digital content, operational efficiency platforms and solutions, and real-time data solutions. Neil also contributed to bottom-line cost reductions and improved efficiency and scalability by deploying process digitization, virtualization, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and cloud infrastructure. Neil also co-led the primary deployments of the Epic Electronic Health Record at Jefferson Health.

Neil is a thoughtful innovator and disruptor and has brought in human-centered, technology-enabled value creation via multiple products and the scaled adoption of these products. Neil is also a talent builder – he founded, built, and The DICE Group at TJU and Jefferson Health delivering high multiples of return from an investment in talent.

Previously, Neil led the transition to digital learning world-wide by helping build an intrapreneurial startup into the world’s largest developer of custom e-learning applications at the Fortune 500, $113 billion Tata Group of Companies in just two years. He also led a digital learning team at the 6th largest public university in the US - the University of South Florida - that built a portfolio of online learning courses that earned the institution over $230 million in annual revenue and assisted with achieving a philanthropic goal of $1 billion in just 3 years.

Neil is a lifelong learner and has earned an Executive MBA from Brown University and IE Business School, an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology and Design from the University of South Florida (USF), and a Masters in Management Studies (MMS/MBA) from Goa University in India. Neil is currently also finishing up his Ph.D. from USF. Neil has earned certificates from Jefferson, Wharton, Harvard Business School Online, MIT and IDEO U. He serves as Associate Editor of the Journal for Healthcare Transformation, has written several research articles, and is a contributor toward the book: We CAN fix Healthcare, the Future is NOW. Neil is a CIO100, Ventana, BT150, Top of the KLASS, and Davey Award winner and a member of Adobe, AT&T, Imprivata, and IBM Watson IoT advisory boards; Forbes Tech. Council; Google Next Leader’s Circle; and Mensa. Neil volunteers with and donates to service-oriented causes and is committed to building communities as a platform for change. Neil is a passionate son, husband, father, musician, singer, artist, designer, naturalist, and detailologist, and is on a quest to change the world in one lifetime.
