Marian Lee was named Chief Marketing Officer in March 2022 after joining Netflix the year prior as Vice President of UCAN Marketing. She leads a global team of best in class entertainment marketers who are focused on delivering joy to members by introducing Netflix’s content to audiences around the world. During her tenure, she has had an incredible impact - empowering the team to think creatively and strategically - in traditional and nontraditional ways. Her goal for the marketing organization is to continuously drive cultural conversations and connect with audiences universally.
Previously as Vice President & Co-Head of Music at Spotify, Marian led a global team focused on delivering a best in class experience for both Spotify users as well as artists and their teams. The Music Team created opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers to connect with fans on Spotify, while providing Spotify users with outstanding editorial and programming experiences that allow them to discover and re-discover their favorite music. Marian was responsible for artist marketing and all industry support and partnerships. Her team executed compelling and innovative campaigns for both new and established artists which include traditional, digital and experiential elements.
Marian previously served as Vice President, Global Head of Artist & Label Services and, since joining Spotify, she and the Music team have shaped how artists’ stories are told through creative channels. From global superstars such as Khalid and Billie Eilish to emerging artists such as Alec Benjamin and Lauv, Marian and her team have executed thousands of one-of-a-kind promotional campaigns both on-and off-platform.
Over the course of her impressive career, Marian has worked with some of the leading brands in fashion and music. Her other experience spans various roles at Condé Nast including VOGUE, program management at Gilt Groupe, and marketing at J.Crew. Marian began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a management consultant.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Marian holds a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University, and now resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
