Benjamin T. Tuttle is a Geographer at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. He holds a BA in Geography and a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an MS in GIS and PhD in Geography from the University of Denver. His research interests include human environment interactions and nighttime satellite imagery and the intersection of geography and technology. Ben is also focused on development of web and mobile geospatial applications to enhance data delivery, analysis, and decision-making. He has authored and co-authored papers in journals including PE&RS, Geography Compass, GeoJournal, Environmental Management, and Remote Sensing of Environment. He has recently lead a team of software developers to deliver new capabilities for first responders, search and rescue teams, security personnel, and military users. Currently he is based in San Francisco where he is the Director of NGAs Outpost and opened a new NGA office in downtown San Francisco in 2017. The flagship outpost in based in Silicon Valley and future outpost locations are being considered. The Outposts @ NGA creates a presence at the point of origin for top talent and technology to innovate and develop new solutions for NGA's current and future challenges.
