Joseph Cevetello was Chief Information Officer, for the city of Santa Monica, California from 2016-2023.  In this role he was responsible for the City’s information technology strategy, infrastructure, services, and ensuring an exceptional digital experience for Santa Monica’s citizens, visitors, and businesses. He directed operations in support of 1850 staff, 93,000 residents, and $61 million in technology operations and projects. He led a team that developed AI-enabled applications that reduced Police Department arrests by 37% and Fire Department encounters by 27% for those experiencing homelessness. In 2022, this project was recognized with the CIO 100 award.
Prior to joining the City of Santa Monica, Dr. Cevetello spent twenty years in higher education. He has worked as an administrator and faculty member at the University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
