Ed is Chairman of Cloud Pharmaceuticals, a Duke University spinout applying AI to drug discovery, with a growing pipeline of novel candidates. Ed Addison is a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and engineer with a passion for turning deep tech into real-world impact. He teaches AI, engineering, entrepreneurship, and management as Professor of the Practice at NC State University.
With over 30 years of experience, Ed serves on the advisory boards of several life science ventures, including Valor Diagnostics, Drug Logic, Parallel Profile, PolarisQB, and In Silico Biosciences.
Ed lives in Raleigh, NC, with his wife Karen. Together, they have six grown children and 16 grandchildren. A competitive swimmer and Senior Games participant, Ed is also a jazz pianist, avid traveler, and die-hard Baltimore Ravens fan.
Ed brings a unique blend of technical and business acumen to his work, with advanced training in AI, bioinformatics, and engineering, alongside an MBA and a law degree. He’s helped launch multiple companies, raised over $50 million in capital, and built a career at the intersection of innovation, education, and execution.
