I am currently on a journey to build competitive advantage for Maersk through technology, data and AI. We are doing so by building industry leading digital platforms, digitising our physical assets, modernising the legacy landscape and building data and IoT capabilities, so as to solve the end to end supply chain needs of our customers. Leveraging the power of AI, especially that of foundational models and agentic frameworks, to drive enterprise scale efficiency and customer value creation is an active pursuit.
Over the last couple of decades, I have been deeply engaged with both failed and successful attempts at digital transformation of large companies, across logistics, retail, finance and engineering. Getting these transformations ”right” has entailed significant investments in culture, process and technology modernization, operating models, and talent.
At A.P Moller Maersk, I have been focused on driving its transformation agenda, currently as Chief Technology and Information Officer and before that as Chief Transformation Officer. This transformation is perhaps one of the largest and most complex changes in this industry, and key to sustained growth of the company. The recipe I bring to bear has been honed by my experience with driving Target’s digital and cultural transformation into a top tier omni-channel retailer. At Target, I was responsible for building and then transforming both its digital technology platform as well as the associated legacy landscape.
Solving large scale problems through data and technology, and driving operating models that accelerate growth, is an area of expertise. In particular, I am excited about the tremendous simplicity and value in companies operating as “platform businesses”.
Moreover, I am a firm believer in the power of startups and large corporates working together to create value, and have launched two enterprise level Accelerators: the Target Accelerator and OceanPro at Maersk. So far, over 50 external and numerous internal startups have been "accelerated" by these programs.
With the “back office” increasingly becoming the “front office”, I am passionate about developing frameworks and perspectives regarding successful leverage of talent across geographies and cultures.
