Jefferson McMillan-Wilhoit is the Director of Health Informatics and Technology at the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD). As a key executive leadership team member, McMillan-Wilhoit works to improve the Department's use of technology across all programs and integrate real-time information into the decision-making process of staff and community members. This includes the development of high-profile technologies, such as the county’s AllVax vaccine orchestration system, and the continuous transformation of digital systems to improve access and communication for his community. He oversees the development and implementation of the Lake County Community Health Improvement Plan and the Health Department Strategic Plan.

Before joining the team at the Health Department in July 2018, McMillan-Wilhoit worked for Northwestern University in Chicago and Children's National Health Center in Washington, D.C., focusing on the application of data science in clinical and public health decision-making, specifically relating to conditions that impact the community. His experience includes building enterprise data warehouses for two large, multi-site health systems and developing innovative approaches to working with data to make it easier to understand.

McMillan-Wilhoit holds a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a Master’s of Public Health degree, and a Master’s of Public Administration degree from the University of Illinois, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife currently live in Grayslake, where they are active participants in their community. McMillan-Wilhoit currently serves as the co-chair of the Epidemiology and Health Informatics section of the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium, and is a member of the ePublic Health and Health Informatics working group of the National Association of City and County Health Officials. McMillan-Wilhoit also holds membership in the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and is a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer and Certified Digital Health Executive.
