Bess Healy is Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer at Synchrony, one of the nation’s premier consumer financial services companies. She is responsible for managing and implementing technology across products, platforms, and partners – leading information technology strategy, digital transformation and innovation including cloud and AI.

During her tenure, Bess has gained valuable commercial experience, building on her IT background and leading one of the company’s largest client portfolios. She also has expertise in strategy and transformation – leading her teams to deliver hyper-personalized experiences to Synchrony’s customers by leveraging proprietary data and insights; transforming loyalty, higher spend, and new business; and consistently demonstrating Synchrony’s value to its merchant partners. This combination of business, technology, and transformation uniquely positions her to take on the role of Chief Information Officer.

Bess began her corporate career at General Electric in 2001, holding roles of increasing responsibility in commercial, technology, operations and change management. In 2015, she was instrumental in building the technology infrastructure required for Synchrony’s separation from GE.  During her time with the company, she was responsible for the technology strategy and program leadership for enterprise operations, which included digital and traditional customer service, collections, and fraud. Bess now leverages all her experience to drive value throughout the enterprise. Additionally, she is a Six Sigma Blackbelt.

Fostering diversity and inclusion is a priority. For two years, she led the Veterans Network, one of Synchrony’s eight resource groups designed to promote an inclusive culture. Advocating for veterans’ needs is a particular passion point as she served in the U.S.  Army for seven years as an Officer in the Adjutant General’s Corps in the U.S. and Germany. She looks forward to the continued partnership with Synchrony’s Veterans Network as well as serving as the executive sponsor for the company’s Summer Immersion Program for Girls Who Code. Originally from Alabama, Bess attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where she received her B.S. in Environmental Engineering.
