We had the opportunity to attend Cloud Foundry’s yearly user conference, Cloud Foundry Summit in Santa Clara, held from June 13th till June 15th, 2017, at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The conference was well attended, similar to last year, though with a wider variety of partners and sponsors.

We had the opportunity to attend HireVue’s yearly user conference Digital Disruption in Deer Valley, held from June 12th till 14th, at the panoramic Stein Ericson lodge. The conference was similarily attended as last year with attendees from customers, prospects, partners and the influencer community (the letter was “very well” attended – insider joke, check Twitter).
Microsoft is joining the Cloud Foundry Foundation as a gold member, in the latest instance of the company embracing open source under the leadership of CEO Sayta Nadella. The move also further cements Cloud Foundry's market position as a leading multi-cloud PaaS (platform as a service).
Today Box introduced the public beta of Box Drive, their new desktop integration that allows people to browse and access all the enterprise content they have access to, without having to synchronize the folders and files down to their local computer.

The analyst meeting was well attended with over 20 influencers present. The Apache Hadoop ecosystem received a bit of a shakeup this week, with IBM's decision to eventually phase out its own BigInsights service in favor of standardizing on Hortonworks' Data Platform. Here are the key details from their joint announcement:

These were key reasons why Ford hired its first Global Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Paul Ballew, and formed the Ford Global Data Insights and Analytics (GDIA) unit in January 2015.
Hortonworks has introduced a new support subscription model for its Hadoop-based big data platform, in a bid to appeal more to customers with hybrid deployments as well as intentions on full-scale migration to the cloud.

Rimini Street is expanding its third-party software support portfolio significantly about a month after announcing it will soon become a publicly traded company. It will now offer support services for six additional database platforms, as well as a security service delivered in partnership with McAfee.
We had the opportunity to attend Cornerstone’s yearly user conference Confluence in San Diego, held from June 5th till 7th 2017, at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina. The conference was very well attended with over 1000 attendees, and almost 30 influencers. The show floor saw a wide range of partners – including – as it’s in the time of the marketplace – coopetitors. A good sign for customers.
On May 31st, IBM announced the acquisition of TIMETOACT XCC (the product, not the company and staff), an intranet platform that is built on top of IBM Connections. IBM plans to bundle XCC with IBM Connections in Q32017 as a new offering named IBM Connections Engagement Center. The additional cost for Engagement Center has not yet been announced.
