Adobe launches Firefly AI Assistant

Published April 15, 2026

Adobe launched Firefly AI Assistant, a creative AI agent, which enables creators to describe outcomes in natural language to create and edit images and orchestrate content workflows.

The news, which is the first installment of a barrage of announcements expected at Adobe Summit next week, highlights how Adobe is looking to break down its suite of applications and create a platform that can deliver outcomes via natural language.

Firefly AI Assistant is a unified interface within Firefly that leverages the Creative Cloud apps in one surface. Context and progress are maintained across sessions and applications such as Photoshop.

The bet for Adobe is that Firefly AI Assistant is a step toward agentic AI that can lower barriers for newcomers to Adobe tools, supercharge experienced creative pros and differentiate offerings. Along with Firefly AI Assistant, Adobe announced expanded video tools in Firefly Video Editor, image editing upgrades in Firefly and new models for Firefly.

Adobe has created a library of workflows in Firefly AI Assistant. Customers can describe outcomes such as:

  • Blur background.
  • Auto tone.
  • Generate similar image.
  • Suggest quick cut.
  • Auto straighten.
  • Animate design.
  • Retouch this batch of photos.

Firefly AI Assistant will orchestrate multi-step workflows across Adobe tools to deliver results.

According to Adobe, creators using Firefly AI Assistant function more as creative directors that set the vision, taste and direction while the AI agent executes.

Adobe said Firefly AI assistant has a library of more than 100 creative skills and can learn preferred tools, workflow patterns and aesthetic preferences.

For review and iteration, Firefly AI Assistant is integrated with Frame.io so customers can share work for review directly, collect feedback within workflows and apply changes automatically based on feedback.
