OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra to customers in its Daybreak program. Astra will roll out to a select group of customers before broad availability.

For OpenAI, Astra is a big launch since it is its first with critical cybersecurity capability. OpenAI is touting GPT-6 Astra as a generational leap that gets closer to artificial general intelligence.

The company is trying to get its groove back after an embarrassing Hugging Face attack via its models. In addition, OpenAI's cadence has fallen off the breakneck pace by rivals as well as open weight releases.

According to the company GPT-6 Astra will roll out to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users with additional availability on OpenAI and AWS.

OpenAI said GPT-6 Astra was trained on more than 100,000 GPUs at its Stargate site in Texas.

The company said:

It combines the intelligence required for complex problems with the ability to carry out multistep workflows and produce polished documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.”
