Boomi World 2026: Trends to know

Published May 14, 2026

Boomi's product keynote surfaced a bevy of high-level takeaways that enterprise buyers need to think about as they navigate rapidly evolving agentic AI trends.

Here's a look at the takeaways from Boomi CTO Ed Macosky and other executives on the stack and trends to know.

Focus on launches that are actually available.

News flash: Boomi actually announces stuff that's available. Go figure.

This point seems like it should be table stakes, but increasingly vendors are pushing ahead with announcements well before the products are available.

I call this the private preview plague and I get it. After all, the pace is moving so fast with AI vendors have to show they are ready to roll.

Macosky said:

"We're not just talking about all the things in the future. The things we're going to be talking about today are real. They either have been delivered and are in production by many of you in the audience today, or they're coming very soon this year. These aren't lofty goals, and we're not making stuff up. We're actually shipping it in production, and we're seeing real results. And that is important. There are a lot of vendors out there today that are getting way too out of their front foot. You're all confused with a lot of these vendors; you don't understand what's real."

Headless matters.

There's such a rush by software vendors to proclaim they are headless. It's one of the qualifications to pick an enterprise software vendor in the AI age. The ball is bouncing Boomi's way.

Macosky said:

"We've been talking about how Boomi supports the headless enterprise and the composable enterprise in everything that we do. Boomi is seen as the black box running behind the scenes, and now that black box is getting opened up and exposed, and now is our time to shine."

Andreessen Horowitz recently weighed in on the headless software trend and mocked Salesforce's latest headless moves. The firm focused on the moat.

Connections matter.

Mani Gill, VP of Product for Data and AI at Boomi, demonstrated Boomi Connect and highlighted how the company internally is using it to connect to everything from Salesforce to SAP to Anthropic's Claude.

"It's the connection to the enterprise systems that we need, and we need to accelerate and the evolving enterprise. We don't get there on day one, the first step is getting our systems connected. We estimate 30% of the enterprise applications and organizations are connected," said Gill.

In other words, Boomi Connect is an integration shortcut. For instance, Boomi Connect will integrate with Amazon Quick for joint customers. For AWS, Boomi Connect enables Amazon Quick to leverage more than 1,000 integrations and connect to back-end enterprise systems. The Amazon Quick-Boomi Connect tag team was glossed over during keynotes, but is worth pointing out.

Knowledge graphs are critical to AI agents.

Boomi also announced that Guru, a startup focused on knowledge agents, is a launch customer for Boomi Connect. Guru is integrating its knowledge agents with Boomi Agentstudio and Boomi MCP Registry. Knowledge agents from Guru synthesize insights across enterprise systems.

Fun fact: Rick Nucci, CEO of Guru, was founder and CTO of Boomi.

"Guru serves as the AI Source of Truth, ensuring enterprise knowledge is verified, governed, and current. By partnering with Boomi at the launch of Boomi Connect, we’re extending that trusted knowledge into the systems where real work happens — giving AI agents reliable context and access to live business data across the enterprise," said Nucci.

Agents can be built as experts on best practices and skills.

Boomi launched Boomi Companion as a set of agent skills that use Boomi’s APIs to build high‑quality integration assets inside agentic dev platforms (e.g., Cloud Code), embedding Boomi best practices.

"Boomi companion is a set of agent skills and plugins that allows you to turn your agentic engineering or agent platform of choice into a Boomi expert, and it's available right now for free on GitHub," said Matt McLarty, CTO & VP, Boomi Innovation Group. "The essence of it, though, is actually like the best practices that our top platform engineers have been using for a while."

Deterministic has to meet agentic.

One of the big themes at Boomi World has revolved around combining deterministic processes with agentic AI workflows. Balancing the two in processes is art and science.

Macosky said Boomi is looking to meld deterministic and agentic AI workflows. Boomi launched an agentic AI academy with the Linux Foundation to train enterprises on mixing deterministic and probabilistic agents.

Vignettes from customers implementing Boomi repeatedly noted the balancing act between deterministic and agentic work.
