Boomi said it has acquired Elementary Data, a data observability platform used to build AI agent workflows. Elementary Data's observability, quality, governance and discovery tools will be integrated into the Boomi Enterprise Platform.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. The Elementary Data purchase is the second deal this year. Boomi recently acquired Lunar.dev.

Elementary Data, founded in 2022, started as an open source project and is used by more than 1,500 data teams. Elementary Data provides data for AI agent pipelines, context monitoring, column-level lineage, a data catalog and a model context protocol (MCP) server that exposes context to AI agents. The company also has its own AI agents that automate data testing, triage issues, optimize and govern data.

Boomi said Elementary Data will give it the tools to address data issues before they reach models, devices and AI agents. Data issues are a key bottleneck in AI agent workflows. Elementary Data will complement Boomi's Enterprise Platform Active Data Foundation.

In a blog post, Elementary Data said the company's product and open source project continues.

"The product continues, the open-source project continues, your service runs uninterrupted, and the team you know is still here. What changes is that we now have far more behind us: more engineering on the roadmap you’ve asked for, more investment in the product you depend on, and the backing of a company built to serve enterprises at scale. Our commitment to you remains the same: delivering a reliable product, excellent service, and continuing to invest in the capabilities that matter most to you. Your service will continue uninterrupted, and no action is required on your part."

Steve Lucas, CEO of Boomi, said "AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it" and Elementary Data will be the "the observability, quality, and governance layer that ensures the data activating our customers’ AI and agents is reliable, explainable, and enterprise-ready."

Elementary Data CEO Maayan Salom said joining Boomi will help the company scale and "make trusted data the default for the AI era."
