Google launched Gemini 3.1 Pro, an update that will be available in Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise and consumer subscription plans.

The launch is Gemini's first .1 LLM release. Gemini 3.1 Pro lands after an update to Gemini 3 Deep Think. For Google, the Gemini update lands as OpenAI is making ChatGPT updates and Anthropic increasingly steals LLM headlines with its releases and fuse for the SaaS stock meltdown.

In a blog post, Google said Gemini 3.1 Pro "represents a step forward in core reasoning." Google said:

"3.1 Pro is a smarter, more capable baseline for complex problem-solving. This is reflected in our progress on rigorous benchmarks. On ARC-AGI-2, a benchmark that evaluates a model’s ability to solve entirely new logic patterns, 3.1 Pro achieved a verified score of 77.1%. This is more than double the reasoning performance of 3 Pro."

Gemini 3.1 Pro will be available in preview in the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, Gemini CLI, Google Antigravity and Android Studio. Enterprises will get Gemini 3.1 Pro in Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. Consumers will see the new model in the Gemini app and NotebookLM.

Key items:

  • Gemini 3.1 Pro is designed for tasks where advanced reasoning is needed.
  • The model can deliver visual explanations of complex topics.
  • Google will take feedback from preview users and incorporate it into future updates.
  • Gemini 3.1 Pro will be available in Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.
  • Based on various benchmarks Gemini 3.1 Pro is comparable to Anthropic's Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6 and OpenAI's GPT-5.2.
