Google Cloud with Wiz eye multi-cloud, multi-model security
Google has closed its $32 billion purchase of Wiz, which will be part of Google Cloud's security portfolio. The plan going forward is for Google Cloud and Wiz to remain multi-cloud and multi-frontier model and differentiate with a "better together" strategy.
Speaking on an analyst call, Francis deSouza, COO and President of Security Products at Google Cloud, and Yinon Costica, Co-Founder and VP of Product at Wiz, outlined the rationale for the deal and the plan going forward. Google Cloud with Wiz plan to "reimagine security for an AI first world," said deSouza.
The integration between the companies is just starting, but the analyst briefing shed light on where they are headed. Google Cloud and Wiz will have more details in the future.

Google Cloud and Wiz said they will have a combined portfolio that is multi-cloud and AI driven to cover code to cloud to runtime. deSouza said enterprises will get a platform that integrates security operations, threat intelligence, AI protection, cloud security and secure browsing in one package.
"Customers need a consistent set of tools, operational processes and policies across a multi-cloud environment with deep context at every layer," said deSouza.
Costica said Wiz's platform includes a security graph that can map cloud resources to code and runtime to detect threats. The AI knowhow of Google Cloud will bring in more resources that can bolster the security graph. "Together we are combining the signals in order to detect threats that are unique to cloud environments by using our context paired with the events we collect," said Costica.
For Wiz, Google Cloud will enable it to accelerate defense and automate security operations. "We are seeing a dramatic shortening in the time it takes to weaponize a vulnerability," said Costica, who noted AI is both a threat and an asset to security. He added that Wiz has three AI agents that align to pen-testing, investigation and remediation.
"The AI capacity that Google bring can be embedded in the heart of Wiz now. This is really at the core of how we see our future together," said Costica.
deSouza added the companies are just at the beginning of integrations between Google Cloud and Wiz that will lead to "fully agentic workflows."
For this integration to work as envisioned, a multi-cloud and multi-model approach will be required. Costica and deSouza were asked about whether the combined security platform will rely solely on Google Cloud and Gemini. The answer was very clear.
Costica said:
"Wiz has been and will continue to be, a multi- cloud, multi-AI agnostic platform. We secure customers wherever they run. Our commitment to being an open platform is that we leverage different clouds, different frontier models."
deSouza added:
"We've always been committed to an open approach. At the chip level we have our TPUs but are also one of the world's biggest partners to Nvidia. If you go to Vertex AI, we have more than 200 other models. We know we're in a multi-cloud, multi-model world."
