Ford launches Ford Pro AI

Ford Pro launched Ford Pro AI, an embedded AI assistant in the Ford Pro Telematics platform that monitors the health of fleets for proactive maintenance and the actions needed to keep vehicles on the road.

With a model-agnostic approach, multi-agent architecture and Ford's proprietary datasets, Ford Pro AI is designed to offer fleet-specific advice instead of generic diagnostic codes. Ford built Ford Pro AI on Google Cloud and plans to leverage multiple AI models as LLMs evolve.

"We're powered by the Google Cloud Platform, and then we use proprietary data sets, but we don't really talk about the different models that are leveraged, or what model we leverage. Why not? We focus on the things that made for make Ford Pro AI unique, which is specifically the specific data and the distinct fleet information that that the tools access," said Kevin Dunbar, General Manager for Ford Pro. Ford has been a Google Cloud customer for years and has modernized databases and compute with the cloud provider.

Ford Pro is Ford's B2B business that includes vehicles, notably Transit Vans and Super Duty pickups as well as software subscriptions. Ford Pro delivered more than $66 billion in 2025 revenue with EBIT of $6.8 billion and its customer base is evenly split between large corporations, small businesses and government and rental fleets.

The automaker's profits are bolstered by Ford Pro. Ford Pro's EBIT margins were 10.3% compared to 3% for Ford Blue, its consumer vehicle business. Ford CEO James Farley said on the company's fourth quarter earnings call that Ford Pro is "a durable commercial business our competitors can't match" with 42% market share. Software and physical services are 19% of Ford Pro's EBIT.

Speaking on a briefing, Dunbar said Ford Pro AI "is built to extend human capability, not to replace it, by bringing responsible, fleet?specific intelligence to help solve real?world problems." He added that Ford Pro AI will be included at no extra charge for the 840,000 paid Ford Pro Telematics subscriptions and be available to new and current subscribers immediately.

Ford Pro AI

Key takeaways about Ford Pro AI include:

  • Ford Pro AI primarily leverages Ford Pro Telematics data but can integrate with third-party data from other maintenance platforms. Ford Pro does support non-Ford vehicles.
  • Ford Pro AI includes a natural language interface as well as dashboards with recommendations.
  • The data is the differentiation. "We’re not just integrating with a standard large language model. Decades of engineering expertise have gone into providing accurate, manufacturer?grade vehicle data," said Dunbar. "What used to take several hours to dig through fuel logs, cross?reference routes and receipts now can be done in minutes to determine the appropriate action, summarize and share."
  • Ford Pro AI will evolve. Ford's approach to LLMs with Ford Pro AI is to be agnostic and "use whatever is the best tool at the time," said Dunbar.

Dunbar said the returns to customers with Ford Pro AI will be time savings and minimizing downtime. In typical use cases, Ford Pro AI can cut multi-hour workflows down to minutes, such as identifying which vehicles need service, prioritizing them, navigating the fleet manager directly to Ford’s scheduling tools, or analyzing fuel spikes (e.g., 15% month-over-month). Ford Pro AI can also draft an email to leadership with tailored recommendations.

Fleet managers and owners retain control and choose what actions to execute. Ford Pro AI will launch in the US with other regions to follow in 2026.
