Citigroup's wealth unit launches Citi Sky, a Google-powered wealth advisor

Google Cloud's partnership with Citigroup is starting to pay off as Citi Wealth, a unit of Citibank, launched an AI agent that utilized the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and forward deployed engineers.

On Citibank's most recent earnings call, the company noted that its transformation to modernize its technology and leverage AI is largely complete. Now Citi will deliver the next phase of its AI-enhanced overhaul.

"90% of the transformation programs are now at or mostly at Citi's target state," said CEO Jane Fraser. "This is helping create capacity for investments in AI and other strategic business priorities."

Citigroup has an Investor Day scheduled that will outline the company's approach to AI across its business. "I feel good about the modernization we've done as we've moved our tech stack from a multiplicity of different platforms into singular platforms and at the same time, making sure that we've got good simple -- singular processes end-to-end that we have been working on simplifying and automating over the last few years," said Fraser.

Citi Wealth, a unit of Citbank, launched Citi Sky, which is an AI assistant designed to be a member of the Citi Wealth team. The agent, built with Google Cloud and Google DeepMind is designed to give clients the ability to navigate markets, act on opportunities and engage with financial advisers.

The Citi AI agent will be available to Citigold clients in the summer. It was developed on the Gemini Agent Platform and will be integrated over time into the Citi Wealth platform.

Citi Sky includes the following launch features:

• Financial guidance and support via prompts and the ability to deliver market insights from Citi Wealth.
• Interaction that's conversational via natural language.
• It's multilingual.

The deployment utilized Google's AI stack as well as forward deployed engineers from Google DeepMind and Google Cloud. Google assets were used to deliver low-latency audio and video conversational interactions. New features will be added to Citi Sky over time as it scales.

Google CEO Thomas Kurian called out Citi Sky during his Google Cloud Next 2026 keynote. The broad theme: Google Cloud uses Gemini, its AI stack powered by TPUs and its AI agent platforms to fuel enterprise gains.
