Snowflake and OpenAI inked a $200 million multi-year partnership designed to boost agentic AI enterprise adoption and collaborate on AI apps.

Under the deal, OpenAI will become one of the primary models on Snowflake's platform. The move comes after OpenAI expanded its partnership with Anthropic.

The upshot is that OpenAI and Anthropic are quickly building out an ecosystem of enterprise vendors that serve as a go-to-market channel for the large language model leaders. OpenAI and Anthropic will need to build their partner networks since Google Gemini already has a strong ecosystem due to Google Cloud.

Recent deals include:

In a statement, Snowflake and OpenAI said they will "work closely together to develop and deploy customized AI solutions for joint enterprise customers." The goal is to deliver "tangible return on investment."

OpenAI recently outlined how it deployed a data agent internally for its processes. You can expect Snowflake and OpenAI to try and deploy similar efforts most likely with forward deployed engineers.

Here's a look at what the partnership covers:

  • OpenAI models will be natively available to Snowflake customers via Snowflake Cortex AI.
  • OpenAI's models including GPT-5.2 will be accessible in Snowflake Intelligence.
  • The two companies will co-innovate and collaborate on go-to-market initiatives.
  • Snowflake and OpenAI will collaborate on joint workflows with OpenAI Apps SDK, AgentKit and APIs.
  • Cortex AI will be used to build AI agents.
  • OpenAI models will run along with Snowflake proprietary data in Snowflake Horizon Catalog.
  • OpenAI will use Snowflake as a data platform for experiment tracking, analytics and testing.
  • Snowflake will use OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise internally.

Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO of Snowflake, said OpenAI models will operate within Snowflake and maintain security and governance.

Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, said the partnership makes it easier to deploy AI agents and apps.
