Alibaba's Qwen launches new flagship LLM with Qwen 3.6-Plus
Alibaba launched Qwen 3.6-Plus, its flagship large language model (LLM) that improves agentic AI coding and reasoning. Qwen 3.6-Plus is the third proprietary model released this week.
Qwen3.6-Plus has a 1M context window by default, agentic coding benchmarks that put it in the ballpark of Anthropic models up to Claude 4.5 Opus. Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6.
In a blog post, the company said Qwen 3.6-Plus includes the following:
- All-around performance improvements for practical engineering performance including mainstream code repair, complex terminal operations and automated task.
- Multimodal improvements on reasoning, document understanding, physical world visual analysis, and visual coding.
- Optimization for "genuine business scenarios." "We believe the future of multimodal AI lies not just in isolated task performance, but in providing holistic support for workflow-oriented operations," said Qwen's team.
- Compatibility with OpenClaw.
- Support for Anthropic API protocol for use with Claude Code.
The opening act for Qwen 3.6-Plus was the roll out of Qwen3.5-Omni-Plus and Qwen3.5-Omni-Plus Realtime, two omni-modal LLMs.
