Anthropic buys all of SpaceX's Colossus 1 data center capacity
Anthropic needed compute and SpaceX was happy to rent more than 300 megawatts of capacity to the LLM company.
In a blog post, Anthropic said:
"We’ve signed an agreement with SpaceX to use all of the compute capacity at their Colossus 1 data center. This gives us access to more than 300 megawatts of new capacity (over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs) within the month. This additional capacity will directly improve capacity for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers."
Anthropic has been struggling to meet demand and has been scurrying to procure capacity via Amazon, Google, Broadcom, Microsoft, Nvidia and others.

Due to the SpaceX deal, Anthropic said it has been able to double Claude Code's five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. The company also removed peak hours limit reductions on Claude Code for Pro and Max accounts. Anthropic also raised API rate limits for Claude Opus models.
SpaceXAI said Colossus 1 gives Anthropic access to more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including dense deployments of H100, H200, and next-generation GB200 accelerators.
In addition, SpaceX said that Anthropic "also expressed interest in partnering to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity."
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
