MongoDB's Ittycheria back in CEO fold

MongoDB is swapping CEOs just hours ahead of its investor day in New York as CJ Desai stepped down to lead Meta Enterprise Platform. Dev Ittycheria has been appointed interim CEO of MongoDB.

Ittycheria handed off to Desai last year. Desai, who took over as MongoDB CEO Nov. 10, didn't last a year. MongoDB's Investor Day kicks off Tuesday at 11 am EDT.

In a statement, MongoDB said its business is strong and Ittycheria will "step in immediately to ensure a seamless transition."

Indeed, MongoDB has delivered strong results under both CEOs as its Atlas data platform gains traction for agentic AI deployments. In addition, an option to deploy Atlas on premises has resonated with enterprises.

Ittycheria said:

MongoDB's investor day comments will be closely watched. The company said it has initiated a process to identify MongoDB's next permanent CEO.
