Google launches Gemini 4 Argon

Google launched Gemini 4 Argon to cybersecurity partners under its Fairwinds program. The launch keeps Google in the frontier model race.

The long-awaited next-gen AI model from Google lands as Anthropic and OpenAI keep launching new models even as they talk almost nonstop about the need for pacing.

In a post on X, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Gemini 4 Argon "shows frontier performance in complex workflows, cyber defense and software engineering. Teams are using it extensively at Google, from coding to quantum computing, great feedback."

According to Google, Gemini 4 Argon is on par or ahead of Anthropic's and OpenAI's premier models, but cost is a big factor. Argon has an intro price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens are 95% off input token prices.

Google gave a host of use cases for Gemini 4 Argon, but among the most notable one is it has quantum algorithmic optimization. Google said its quantum computing researchers are using it to optimize qubits and gates.

The company also said that Argon was able to analyze fleetwide telemetry across data centers, migrating codebases at scale and working across multiple domains.

Gemini 4 Argon also excels in cybersecurity and is being used within Google's security business as well as Wiz.
