Amazon Web Services launched Amazon Connect Health, an AI agentic suite designed to better connect patients and healthcare providers.

With the launch, AWS is extending its successful Amazon Connect offerings to specific industries. The agentic AI in Amazon Connect Health will handle patient verification, scheduling, medical history and documentation.

Amazon said in a statement that Amazon Connect Health is the first purpose-built effort for healthcare. According to the company, which runs Amazon Pharmacy and One Medical, it has intimate knowledge of how silos break down workflows.

  • A big theme is integration across electronic health records.
  • Amazon Connect Health is focused on patient access and contact center workflows, pre-visit prep, medical coding and summaries and follow-up tasks. The system is built for both buyers and builders.
  • The LLMs used in Amazon Connect Health connect to AWS HealthLake for data.
  • UC San Diego has a pilot with Amazon Connect serving about 3.2 million patients saved about 630 hours per week.
  • Humans are in the loop and use Amazon Connect as an orchestration layer between patients, AI agents and humans.
  • Amazon Connect Health is pre-integrated with Epic, but open to the broader electronic health record ecosystem.
