Blockchain enables strangers to transact a particular type of electronic cash without knowing anything about each other and without any intermediaries or administrators. It was designed for untrusted environments utterly unlike healthcare. We reviewed the winnders of the Health Human Services ONC Healthcare Blockchain Challenge. We found that a radical rethink is needed if Distributed Ledger Technology is to make any difference in e-health.
