Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella talks about the need for deterministic controls for agentic AI systems and the conversation quickly turns to the great super intelligence sellout. Meanwhile, Marc Benioff said Agentforce will become SIForce on X. Note that Salesforce's web site hasn't changed so it's unclear whether the branding team knows yet. That's probably good because you could easily see SIForce as systems integration force. But I digress. My strategy with "super intelligence" goes like this:
- I'll take to super intelligence well as I did other absurd buzzwords like "customer centricity."
- I'm amazed the trend to put "super" in front of everything has been as enduring as it has. No you're not super happy, super excited or super intelligent if you put super in front of everything. OK, Superman is worth but that's about it. The origin of super as a prefix to my recollection started at Google IO when Google Glass was introduced in 2012. I was such a fan of Google Glass and remember making a mental note of "super" mentions.
- Nothing has happened to call frontier models super. Yes, they've moved along, but in a few months we're going to see them more nuisance than actually super.
- Super in front of everything is as idiotic as maxxing on the end of everything.
- The whole super intelligence thread is part of the hype machine for an AI bubble.
