The Problem

For far too long, physicians never bothered to do much about nutritional education, bequeathing the duty to dieticians or specialized counselors. Since 1929, Standard Process, has been working to modify the status quo, instilling holistic nutrition into everyday healthcare practices.

Dr. John Troup, vice president of clinical science, innovation and education at Standard Process, explained, “As we’re enhancing clinical practices and integrating new nutritional concepts into healthcare, education is the backbone of everything we do.”

The company required a cutting edge solution for its new media and learning center that would educate, encourage, engage, and influence practitioners to help accelerate awareness around the use of nutrition to drive medical solutions.

The Solution

Standard Process had been using the standard PowerPoint for internal and external presentations – leaving Dr. Troup to believe there had to be a better way. After almost a year of testing various interactive displays for the company’s learning center, Dr. Troup, came across the Prysm LPD 6K Series, a first-of-its-kind interactive single panel large-format display offering a panoramic image uninterrupted by seams or bezels. Captivated by the display’s potential to create a paradigm shift in how they could educate practitioners, the company decided to design its new media and learning center around the video wall. The new center, which boasts a massive 190-inch LPD 6K, has become a meeting place where healthcare practitioners can come together to facilitate the growth and adaption of new nutritional information into the clinical world. With its image clarity and touch-interactivity, it’s impossible for users not to be impressed by the display.

The results

The LPD 6K gives Standard Process a mechanism to capture the true essence of its products and share its message in a way that is engaging and compelling for practitioners. With the video wall, Standard Process can leverage augmented reality to create three-dimensional views of the human anatomy.

They’re also able to break down key functions in the human body and use these to visually demonstrate how nutrition plays a role in supporting each system. Practitioners can twist and turn the virtual body around, examining it from multiple perspectives as if it were a real, live patient.

No longer dependent on static PowerPoint presentations, photos, videos, websites, and excel files - along with the augmented reality images - are combined and accessible from one large wall, with multiple participants interacting with content at the wall (or remotely) at the same time.

As a result, audience members become active participants and quickly turn into ambassadors for the excitement and innovation that have established Standard Process as a recognized leader within the nutritional supplement industry.

Standard Process is still expanding the practice of utilizing Prysm technology and recently used the system to deliver its mid-year sales training. The company also plans to use the tool for monthly sales trainings for U.S. sales representatives.

Metrics

As Dr. Troup has shared, “Prysm has transformed our ability to recoup a higher rate of return on the information that we’ve invested in and it accelerates the use of those solutions in the clinic. As a result, our business can achieve double digit growth whereas otherwise it wouldn’t have had that stimulus.”

As an example, after education sessions, it used to take practitioners a month to follow up with Standard Process with questions. Thanks to the engaging capabilities of the video wall, the company is starting to get questions the very next day. Additional ROI from the LPD 6K deployment include:

• Standard Process can brief almost double the amount of physicians per session, plus an additional 10 – 120 people through remote collaboration
• The company is able hold seven to eight live events per year, along with 20+ online collaboration events

Because of this success, Standard Process is looking to purchase another LPD 6K 190” screen and other Prysm technology in 2019.

Shining Moment

“People are doing backflips after seeing the LPD 6K,” said Dr. Troup. “During the grand opening of our center, we hosted the Lt. Governor of North Carolina, Dan Forest. With a background in architecture, he was immediately drawn to the video wall. Even with a very pressing schedule, the Lt. Governor’s team had to persuade him away from the wall – as he lingered at the opening, testing the LPD 6K to see what it could do. It was an exciting moment for us.”
