The Problem

In 2014, Florida Hospital Medical Group was using a Drupal platform for our Intranet and making changes was a very arduous, manual process since access was limited. Users could not use their normal windows logins and Intranet admin made all changes. This caused a bottleneck when trying to distribute new information and make changes via the Intranet.

The Solution

Our problem was easy to isolate, since we knew only a handful of people could make changes. Our employees rely on one login types of technology, so a solution that would sync usernames and passwords from the existing system was essential to opening up access and alleviating our pain points.

The results

Our solution has helped to empower thought leaders in our departments to distribute their own information and so this has strengthened our organizational knowledge overall. Before updates rolled out slowly as one of 5 or so people had time to update the site, after implementing Interact information and changes flow freely as users post to their departmental pages.

Metrics

Before The Pulse there were 4 administrators managing our intranet with the ability to update files and pages. Now, we currently have over 78 thought leaders who are authors and have access to manage and update their departments’ page.

The Technology

We used Interact's intelligent intranet solution.

Disruptive Factor

One thing that is unique working with the medical group is that information is constantly changing. It seems as soon as information appears, it's updated. With the ease and functionality of The Pulse, the departmental thought leader is empowered to make the updates and changes keeping the rest of the staff up to date in a way that was never before possible.

Shining Moment

A shining moment I have experienced since being in this position and managing the intranet is being seeing thought leaders in various departments want to push the limits of The Pulse. We live in a digital age, and we train our employees to turn to The Pulse for not only the latest new information but for any supplemental information that will help them perform their daily tasks. Our thought leaders want to know everything The Pulse is capable of doing and make them happen.
